VfB boss Wehrle calls for a more balanced distribution of TV money – football

Alexander Wehrle, CEO of VfB Stuttgart, spoke out in favor of a more balanced distribution of TV money in the Bundesliga.

“It’s not so good if the same German champion celebrates or doesn’t celebrate every year,” said Wehrle on “Sky”: “I would wish that we could achieve a fairer distribution, especially in an international context.”

Wehrle: “Consider the idea of solidarity a bit more”

With Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, there are “other clubs that have a different international presence. So you can understand to some extent that monetization must also be balanced a bit in that direction. Still, I think , the idea of solidarity should be given a little more consideration,” said Wehrle, who also serves as the chairman of the supervisory board of the German Football Association (DFB).

Apart from that, in his opinion, changes must also be brought about in the European competitions. “It’s difficult when a Champions League winner gets at least 130 million euros to win a competition. As long as that’s the case, we’ll never get a reasonable balance in the national league,” said Wehrle.
