Stellantis is one of the most successful electric car manufacturers in 2022

Accordingly, Volkswagen AG is the most successful manufacturer of electric cars. With 116,307 vehicles sold in the first half of 2022, the Wolfsburg-based group secured first place. However, VW should not rest on its laurels, because the relatively unknown manufacturer Stellantis from the Netherlands is hot on its heels. Stellantis sold 105,413 electric cars in the same period – a difference of only 11,000 cars. This puts Stellantis even ahead of the supposed top dog Tesla, which was only able to sell 78,277 e-cars and is therefore not even remotely as successful as the first two.

This is a special case, as Tesla electric cars have always come first since the last quarter of 2020. Looking at the whole of Europe, however, Tesla remains the leader with the Model Y and the Model 3. Nevertheless, the manufacturer is still suffering from the corona lockdowns that paralyzed production in China. The result: Tesla’s sales figures are as low as they were two years ago. Compared to the previous year, for example, the Model 3 was sold 25 percent less.

Switch to an e-car – leasing makes it possible

E-cars are still slightly more expensive than conventional petrol engines, which deters many drivers from switching. Leasing can help. With this financing method, the initial acquisition costs are relatively low. Due to the fixed term and monthly rate, interested parties also have greater planning security and hardly any risks. Finally, you can also use leasing offers to test whether an e-car really suits you and your needs – without having to worry about things like residual value and the like after the term has expired.

All of this also explains why leasing is so popular, especially with e-cars. According to the ADAC survey cited above, 23 percent of e-cars are financed through leasing. For comparison: With combustion engines it is only five percent.
