What do Thomas Muller and Lionel Messi have in common?
Lothar Matthäus (61) evaluated FC Bayern’s transfer policy in his Sky column “That’s how I see it” and spoke about the strong performances of Jamal Musiala (19). The record national player is particularly surprised with a statement about Thomas Müller (32) and a comparison with Lionel Messi (35).
The Sky expert gave the transfer policy of Bayern’s sports director Hasan Salihamidžić (45) a first grade. The squad is much broader than last season and ready to fight for the Champions League title again. The current starting eleven is currently playing very convincingly. “And players like Goretzka, de Ligt, Coman, Sane, Gravenberch, Mazraoui or Tel are still in the back hand,” says Matthäus.
That would be bitter!
Does Musiala have to go back to the bank now?
The start of the Munich season creates an excellent atmosphere on Säbener Straße. Confidence in one’s own abilities is so great in Munich that Matthäus compares Thomas Müller to Messi.
“You can tell by the fact that Thomas Müller has to laugh when he misses a great opportunity, how much confidence he has in his own strength. It reminds me of Leo Messi, who often had to smile when he awarded a 100 percent because he knew he would make three more anyway.”

Do Bayern have a future world footballer in their own ranks?
Matthew raves about Musiala in his column. He is a wonderful footballer and combines diligence, greed, concentration, talent and down-to-earthness.
“Where does this lead to? I’m thinking about the world footballer election! And that doesn’t have to be in three, four, five years. That may happen in the near future.”
Everything is going well at Bayern Munich at the moment. If that is also the case in June 2023, the Champions League Cup could come back to Munich.
