Dedication to his beloved homeland cost him his marriage.

Ex-Boxing World Champion Vitali Klitschko (51) and his wife Natalia (48) are getting divorced after 26 years of marriage. A bitter price that the couple is now paying for Klitschko’s commitment in Ukraine.

After Vitali Klitschko retired from professional sport, he went into politics in his home country and became mayor of Kyiv in 2014. Vitali Klitschko to BILD: “My heart belongs to Ukraine, we are all fighting here for our country and the people.”

Still-wife Natalia stayed in Hamburg with her three children Yegor (22), Elizabeth (19) and Max (17). The ex-model started a singing career a few years ago. Husband Vitali came by for flying visits.

Klitschko: “Our children have now grown up, which is also one of the reasons why we have taken the step now.”

The couple met at a fashion show in Kyiv in the mid-90s. HE fell in love with HER immediately, but had to win her over. How is your relationship with your longtime wife now?

Klitschko: “We’ve been living apart for years. Natalia and I respect each other and have a good relationship.”
