The German defendant is said to have initially tried to drown the girl in the bathtub. According to the indictment, she then cut the child deeply with a kitchen knife.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the background to the crime is a custody dispute. The father of the child, who lives separately from the accused, is said to have been granted extended rights of access the day before the crime. “The accused was driven by a deep sense of defeat,” the indictment says. She acted in the belief that no one but herself had a right to her daughter. The charge is murder.
