2002 – Herta Däubler-Gmelin (SPD) announces her resignation from the office of Minister of Justice. She caused considerable tension in German-American relations because, according to a newspaper report, she compared US President George W. Bush’s Iraq policy with Hitler’s methods.
1992 – In Eisenach, Thuringia, Adam Opel AG puts into operation what was then the most modern automobile plant in Europe with a capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year.
